About

Chesapeake Soccer Club (CSC) is a nonprofit, volunteer-led youth soccer organization in Chesapeake, Virginia, aligned with US Youth Soccer and Virginia Youth Soccer Association rules. For more than 35 years the club has blended recreational, advanced, and elite travel pathways under a simple priority: keep the experience kid-centered, affordable, and fun. The club motto, “It’s about Kids,” anchors programming in player development and family-friendly teamwork rather than adult drama on the sidelines.

What the club offers

Recreational soccer is a team-based, in-house league for roughly U4 through about U10, built for players who are new to the game or still building confidence. Galaxy Discovery (about ages 4–6) uses volunteer-led teams, playful activities, and basic skills in a low-pressure setting. Galaxy Foundations (about ages 6–10) pairs paid technical training led by Coach Ethan Clark with volunteer team coaches: younger groups train on Mondays in a 5v5 game format, while older groups train on Wednesdays in a 7v7 format, then teams finish practice together. Every recreational player is guaranteed at least half of each game, with emphasis on sportsmanship and enjoyment. Head coaches receive a waiver of their own child’s registration fee.

Advanced teams (about U9–U19) form after evaluations and compete in the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League (TASL), a Hampton Roads–area league that bridges recreational play and higher-demand travel soccer without requiring overnight trips for regular league games. Practices average about twice per week; Saturday is the usual league day, with home matches at Centerville Park and away matches at partner clubs. Players are strongly encouraged to add the club’s optional technical training to sharpen ball control and decision-making.

Travel teams (about U10–U19) also form through evaluations and play in the Virginia Premier Soccer League within the National Premier Leagues (NPL) platform, facing clubs from southeastern Virginia, Richmond-area markets, and nearby North Carolina. Practices average about twice per week, with league games mostly on Sundays and additional tournaments during the year that can involve overnight stays. Travel athletes are encouraged to attend the same optional technical training blocks that support elite-level habits. CSC fields both co-ed and gender-specific teams; families interested in all-girls advanced or travel sides can reach the advanced divisions leadership for placement guidance.

Where families practice and play

Most home games and many practices center on Centerville Soccer Complex, 1857 Centerville Turnpike South, Chesapeake, VA 23322, using the front three game fields (6, 7, and 8). Some teams may also practice at satellite sites the club secures through city permits. TASL away games spread across Hampton Roads and the Tidewater corridor—roughly from Williamsburg north to the Outer Banks south—with several clubs also hosting at Hampton Roads Soccer Complex. NPL travel away games can reach farther, including occasional trips toward Richmond, while regular league play is still mostly a regional drive. Families can follow rain-out and field-status alerts through the club’s RainedOut feed and Facebook community the club promotes for day-to-day updates.

Tryouts, placement, and registration

Players currently in about U8 and older are welcome to try out for advanced or travel rosters; no one joins those teams without attending tryouts and earning a roster spot when space allows. Everyone—returning and new—attends the tryout block that matches the player’s birth year, including athletes who have played up in the past. Players seeking a play-up evaluation may also attend the older group’s session. To schedule an advanced tryout, families email the CSC Advanced Committee with the player’s full name and date of birth. For elite travel interest, include name and birth year to speed scheduling. Families unsure whether a child is ready for advanced soccer may request a player evaluation by emailing CSCAdvancedDivisions@gmail.com or CSCTASLRep@gmail.com.

Recreational registration runs through the club’s Stack Sports registration portal (Login/Register on chesapeakesoccerclub.com). Spring recreational games are traditionally scheduled on Friday evenings at Centerville, with one team practice per week and roughly six to eight games per season depending on weather. Fall seasons generally run about September through November and spring seasons about March through May across the club’s programs.

Fees, uniforms, and what is included

Recreational fees are tiered by age for each fall or spring season: about $75 for U4–U6, $90 for U7–U8, and $105 for U9–U10, covering two jerseys, Virginia Youth Soccer Association insurance, field use, coach equipment, one weekly practice, and the seasonal game set. For the 2025–2026 cycle, advanced (TASL) tuition is $150 per season for U9–U10 teams and $160 per season for U11 and older. Travel soccer is priced as a full-year commitment at $750, which includes both fall and spring seasons plus one club-included travel tournament; families may pay in two $375 installments per half-year season. Advanced and travel fees are not refunded once rosters are set and processing costs are incurred, so families should confirm schedules before committing.

Uniforms for competitive tracks are ordered through a local vendor during defined ordering windows announced to teams; missing a window can delay kit arrival by several weeks. Tournament choices beyond the included travel event are decided team by team, with coaches sharing fee and date options with families.

Mission, training culture, and how to reach the club

The club organizes three levels—recreational, advanced, and travel—with volunteer coaches in each pathway backed by the Advanced Committee’s organized skills sessions, coach education support, and certification expectations. Optional technical training is open to all members about twice per week during fall and spring, layered on top of normal team practices. Volunteer leadership covers roles such as president, vice president, club administrator, TASL representative and boys program director, girls program and advanced divisions chair, recreational divisions chair, treasurer, and facilities management, so specific questions can reach the right volunteer.

General correspondence may be mailed to PO Box 16438, Chesapeake, VA 23328. For email, families can use chesapeakesoccerclub@gmail.com for broad questions, cscrecdivisions@gmail.com for recreational division matters, and cscadvanceddivisions@gmail.com for advanced or travel placement. Coaching interest for recreational teams flows through the recreational divisions chair; advanced or elite coaching interest goes to the coach coordinator at chesapeakesoccerclub@gmail.com, the same inbox the club uses for competitive coaching coordination.
