About

Copper Mountain Soccer Club is a nonprofit youth organization serving families across Salt Lake County and Utah County with recreation, academy, competitive, and TOPSoccer pathways for players from preschool through high school. The club reports more than 340 competitive and recreational teams and more than 3,500 players, making it one of Utah’s largest community-based youth soccer programs while keeping fees comparatively low through volunteer licensed coaches and sponsor support.

Recreation soccer

Recreation soccer welcomes ages 3 through 18 with weekly practices and eight games per fall and spring season, for 16 games across a full year. Full-year registration is $105 if families enroll before June 15 and $120 afterward, including a uniform, soccer ball, and year-end t-shirt; spring-only registration is $75 for eight games or practices plus the same gear bundle. Early bird registration for the full year runs May 1 through June 15, with standard registration open through July 15, and spring-only registration from January 1 through February 15. Games are scheduled Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings or afternoons in Herriman, South Jordan, and Riverton, with less travel than competitive leagues. Younger age groups often use no-scores and no-standings formats to keep play fun and low pressure. Friend and coach requests may be honored when a parent volunteers to coach and when rosters have space before the July 15 close.

Academy program

The academy track prepares U7 and U8 players for future competitive soccer with extra licensed training beyond recreation. U7 academy (first grade for 2026–27) costs $315 for the year, caps at 80 players, and includes about 30 training sessions plus an academy uniform and recreation league fees. U8 academy (second or third grade) costs $450, caps at 96 players, and includes about 50 sessions with an academy uniform and recreation fees. Academy registration opens May 1 for the 2026–27 year and closes July 15. Summer training typically runs Mondays and Wednesdays; fall and spring academy sessions add tactical work while many players also keep one recreation practice per week. Optional winter training in January and February is available for an added fee.

Competitive soccer

Competitive teams train year-round with licensed volunteer coaches, emphasizing technical skill, tactical awareness, teamwork, and character alongside league and tournament play. Annual club registration totals $480 per player when rostered, broken into state fees ($120), referee and assignor fees ($120), equipment and fields ($120), goalkeeper and coach training ($50), and club fees ($70), paid once for the year. Adidas home and away kits cost $175. Teams usually practice twice weekly from June, taper in winter, and may add indoor leagues (often about $100 per player per six-week session) and tournaments ($50–$100 per player per event, set by coaches). Fall league play runs mid-August through late October and spring from mid-March through late May, with at least eight scheduled games and four to five home matches on club fields in Riverton and South Jordan. Higher-level teams travel farther across Utah and attend showcases where college scouts may attend. Uniforms rotate on a two-year cycle.

Tryouts and age alignment

Annual competitive tryouts for 2026 are set for U9–U12 (third through sixth grade) May 18–21 and U13–U19 (seventh through twelfth grade) May 26–29, using a grade cutoff of August 1 through July 31 as the club transitions to school-grade roster rules for 2026–27 alongside US Youth Soccer partners. Tryout registration is required before the first session, costs $10 through May 9 and $15 afterward, and includes a numbered tryout shirt for each age group registered. Players should arrive 30–45 minutes early on night one for check-in, wear shin guards and cleats, bring a labeled ball and water, and attend both nights when possible. Coaches contact players within about a week with offers. Players who do not make a competitive roster can join recreation or academy programs starting in June.

TOPSoccer and community reach

TOPSoccer divisions serve elementary and middle or high school-age players with mental or physical disabilities in a fun, inclusive setting aligned with US Youth Soccer’s national TOPSoccer model. Games are held on Wednesdays, and a parent or responsible sibling must attend with each player. The club recruits trained volunteer coaches and team parents to grow capacity each season. Families across Riverton, Bluffdale, Herriman, Draper, South Jordan, and surrounding towns use CMS fields and programs.

Mission, coaching, and next steps

Founded in 2015, Copper Mountain Soccer emphasizes community impact, affordable access, and developing confident players who learn problem-solving, communication, and leadership—not only ball skills. Licensed coaches volunteer and continue coach education to keep training quality high while holding annual fees down. Mail correspondence uses 3731 W. South Jordan Pkwy, #102-204, South Jordan, UT 84009 (administrative headquarters, not a walk-in office).
