About

Eastshore Alliance Fútbol Club (EAFC) is an East Bay youth soccer organization serving Berkeley, El Cerrito, Albany, Richmond, San Pablo, and nearby neighborhoods. Launched in 2023 when Spurs FC and Mavericks SC merged, the club combines two long-running local programs into one crest, one staff structure, and a single pathway from toddler play through high school competition.

Mission, vision, and values

The mission is to provide the best possible environment to elevate the player experience while encouraging growth and positive change in the community. The vision focuses on developing the whole person—soccer, academics, and character—so athletes can reach the highest level their talent and work ethic allow. Daily culture rests on player-centered decisions, integrity, respect, a growth mindset, and collaboration.

Program ladder

Mini Allies introduces ages three to five through movement-heavy, play-based sessions in Berkeley (Wednesday evenings) and El Cerrito (Saturday mornings), with eight-week spring blocks and optional dual-session discounts. Grassroots carries ages five to twelve with two weekday practices in Berkeley or El Cerrito, in-house scrimmages for younger groups, and Jack London League weekends for older brackets. Junior Allies serves motivated five- to eight-year-olds who need more structure than pure recreation, blending staff-led training, small-sided games, and weekend playdates before competitive tryouts. Competitive soccer spans ages eight to nineteen with team formation after May tryouts, year-round training cycles, and optional winter futsal through the BEARS Futsal Academy when outdoor league play pauses.

Competitive formats and league play

Age groups progress from 7v7 (roughly eight to ten), 9v9 (ten to twelve), and 11v11 and up. Teams from U9 (2017 birth year) through U19 (2007) train in NorCal Premier Soccer leagues, add NorCal State Cup, local tournaments, and college showcases for high school ages. MLS Next complements NorCal Premier league play for elite boys flights within the same competitive department. Pre-APX (ages twelve to fourteen) and APX—Advanced Performance X—for 11v11 birth years 2013–2007 layer four training days each week around performance training, futsal, position labs, peak-performance work, and video review for athletes targeting the next level.

Season rhythm and summer plan

Competitive teams typically run two to four trainings weekly plus weekend league games, with fall roughly August through November and spring March through May, optional winter futsal, and a mid-July preseason entry point. The 2026 summer outline stacks post-tryout training weeks beginning late May, July intensives for APX groups, targeted summer camps for U9–U10 7v7 and U11–U12 9v9 squads, and wider team training blocks in late July and early August; fall competition opens Monday, August 10. Summer sessions usually run ninety minutes between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., while camps hit about three hours per day during assigned weeks.

Tryouts and registration

2026 competitive tryouts use two windows for U9–U14 (May 4–8 and May 11–15) and a U15–U18 block May 18–21. Families register through the PlayMetrics tryout link, and a mailing list captures reminders for future tryout dates, camps, and community events.

Coaching and community touchpoints

Competitive staff work under two directors of coaching, emphasize long-term development over short-term results, and hold U.S. Soccer licenses across age groups. Grassroots blends volunteer and professional coaches, while Junior Allies keeps tight ratios and invite-only rostering to protect training quality. General questions flow through the club office phone and email, with a dedicated grassroots inbox for that program tier.
