History and identity

The organization traces back to the girls club Rage, founded in Elk Grove in 2007. Leaders from Rage and Sacramento’s Inter boys program merged in 2009 to form Inter Rage, later rebranded IR Academy, still serving Elk Grove and neighboring communities under one crest. That lineage helps families understand why the club blends long-standing girls programming with boys pathways in a single membership structure.

Development philosophy and pathways

Training is development-first and player-centric, pairing demanding soccer with physical, mental, and social growth. The mission emphasizes age-appropriate work for every ability level, access regardless of financial background, and motivation drawn from hard work, discipline, and dedication. Alongside older competitive teams, programming includes juniors and littles academy tracks, goalkeeper-focused work, and skills academies. About 75 alumni have continued into college or professional soccer.

Tryouts and competitive registration

Competitive tryouts run in two three-day windows—May 11–13 and May 18–20—with age-specific times still to be announced. Sessions take place at Bartholomew Sports Park Field Four, 10150 Franklin High Road in Elk Grove, beside the main lot where an IR Academy tent handles last-minute signup. Families pre-register through PlayMetrics when links are live, and walk-ups can register at the tent if they arrive early. Coaches evaluate across all three days and follow up with placement decisions after the process ends.

Spring development academy and fees

The Spring Development Academy invites girls and boys born 2014 through 2019 to six Friday sessions from April 10 through May 8, 5:30–6:45 p.m. at Strong Park, 9580 Baypoint Way, Elk Grove. The clinic costs $99, includes a camp shirt, and offers a ten percent sibling discount, welcoming beginners through experienced players—including recreation athletes or non-member competitive players seeking extra touches on the ball.

Published competitive fee examples include a $250 initial registration plus twelve-month club tiers of $900 for the 2017 birth year, $1,500 for 2016–2013, and $1,800 for 2012–2007, payable upfront or split after the first installment on the first of each month. Families should also budget separate team payments covering NorCal Premier league costs, tournaments, coach stipends, and miscellaneous items routed through the team. Adjustments to published club fees have been tied to California Soccer District field rental, referee costs, and US Club registration increases.
