About

Cheyenne Soccer Club is a volunteer organization that has anchored youth soccer in Cheyenne and Laramie County since 1978. Programming scales from introductory in-club recreation through competitive STING travel teams, a U9–U10 Player Development Program (PDP), TOPSoccer for players with disabilities, and adult league options. The club stresses teamwork, discipline, and a positive attitude while helping players grow into strong community members and offering parents clearer pathways into coaching, refereeing, and understanding the game.

What the club offers

Youth recreational soccer keeps games inside the club without travel to outside opponents. Volunteer coaches work under the executive director of coaching to balance fun with respect for teammates and opponents. Age groups follow an August 1 cutoff. For the 2025/26 cycle, spring-only recreational tuition runs $75 for coed U4 (Monday-evening training only), $126 for coed U6 or boys/girls U8, $137 for boys or girls U10 or U12, and $141 for coed U14 for players ages 12–13 as of August 1, 2025. U6 and older spring registrants receive an Adidas jersey, shorts, and socks; U4 Stingers receive a T-shirt. A high-school division is available in the fall only. Full-season families who combine fall and spring stay on the same roster when possible and may note coach or buddy preferences during signup subject to roster balance and timing.

Competitive soccer centers on the STING program for U11–U15 boys and girls and U16–U19 girls, with tryouts and intent-to-play handled through GotSport (tryout registration is free). U11 and U12 teams use scheduled tryout blocks; players who are new to STING at U13 and older join kick-around sessions when coaches are filling older rosters. Selected STING families should plan on yearly club fees plus uniforms, travel, and tournament costs. The PDP bridges recreation and full STING for players turning 8 or 9: staff evaluate fit, teams play in the Fort Collins Player Development League on Saturday afternoons with eight games per season, train at least twice weekly on a full-year commitment, mix home games at North Cheyenne Community Park with travel to Fort Collins, Laramie, and Greeley, and may add indoor or summer tournaments. High-school-age boys can pursue the club’s boys select track alongside these pathways. Adult leagues and coordinator support round out the member base.

Schedules, locations, and registration rhythm

Recreational games are usually on Saturdays in fall and spring, with occasional weeknight makeups for weather or holidays. Fall 2025 sample timing had practices possibly beginning the week of August 26, first games September 6, and last games October 25. Coaches may hold up to three weekly contacts before the season starts and two during the season, with scrimmages and evening games counting toward that limit. Early-bird registration targets August 4 for full or fall-only plans and February 28 for spring-only plans; after those dates a $20 late fee applies and placement requests are not guaranteed. Waitlisted age groups are not charged until a team spot opens.

Home training and tryouts for much of the club happen at North Park Soccer Complex, 3200 Mynear Street, Cheyenne, WY 82009. PDP and some rec games or practices also use North Cheyenne Community Park during the year.

Fees, refunds, and financial assistance

Families registering more than one player in the same household receive a $5 discount per additional child. Recreational refunds deduct $15 for cancellations on or before the July 31 (full/fall) or February 28 (spring) deadlines; after those dates until the first game, $45 comes out of full/fall or fall-only payments and $45 out of spring-only payments, with no refunds once league play begins except documented medical cases minus uniform costs and a $5 processing fee. U4 Stingers follow a lighter schedule with $15/$25 deduction tiers aligned to the same deadline pattern.

STING tuition for 2025/26 is $859 for selected U11–U15 boys and girls; U16–U19 girls and freshman boys/girls playing fall-only pay $513. Refund windows for U11–U15 payers include $644 back before August 1 and $513 before the second fall game, with no refund afterward; U15 high-school and U16-and-up girls brackets refund $385 before August 1 and $225 before the second fall game. PDP acceptance brings a $295 registration fee plus roughly $100–$125 for the uniform bundle.

Need-based assistance exists for recreation (apply before July 27 for full/fall or February 25 for spring so you receive a discounted voucher before registering) and for competitive players (initial payments may be adjusted after review with a June 20 seasonal deadline). Applications require recent tax documents and pay stubs; families may be asked to volunteer with club operations in exchange for aid.

How do STING tryouts work and what should players bring?Families start with free GotSport registration for the 2025/26 U11–U15 boys and girls and U16–U19 girls tryout or intent-to-play window. U11 and U12 teams use fixed tryout times; new U13-and-older candidates attend kick-around sessions while coaches evaluate roster needs. All sessions use the North Park Soccer Complex.
