About

Laramie United is the competitive pathway and public brand for youth soccer inside Laramie Soccer Club (LSC), a nonprofit community organization based in Laramie, Wyoming. LSC promotes soccer locally while supporting leadership, personal growth, and advancement for players, coaches, referees, and families. The club aims to keep environments healthy, safe, and enjoyable; match competition to each player’s ability, interest, and desire; and emphasize sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, and education across the pathway.

Recreational soccer: United Pre-Academy and intramural

United Pre-Academy and intramural soccer serve players born from August 1, 2013 through August 1, 2021. This is the recreational level, open to all skill levels, with practice and game formats that vary by age. Teams rely on parent volunteer coaches.

United Pre-Academy covers U5–U7 (pre-kindergarten through first grade) in an intramural-style training block. The goal is to prepare every participant to play and enjoy soccer in a fun, active, educational setting using group training aligned with US Youth Soccer developmental ideas. After Pre-Academy, families typically choose either movement toward United Academy and competitive travel or continued play in the intramural program.

The intramural program builds on Pre-Academy for U8–U14 (about second through sixth grade). Players are assigned to coaches, continue technical and teamwork growth, and learn sportsmanship. Intramural players may also step toward competitive soccer through the developmental or practice-player track described on the competitive program pages.

Competitive soccer: United Academy, travel, and practice players

The overall travel and academy side is framed for players born 2007 through 2018 who are ready for higher commitment and fundamentals beyond pure intramural play. Skills assessments for travel-oriented teams are scheduled in April or May each year. Fall and spring are the main outdoor seasons. Competitive teams are coached by volunteers working under the club Director of Coaching.

United Academy fields U8 (2018), U9 (2017), and U10 (2016) teams in leagues centered on Fort Collins, Colorado, with weekend games and two training sessions per week. The curriculum introduces competitive soccer outside intramural play and follows the LSC player pathway toward travel. If Fort Collins league play is unavailable, LSC may substitute other competitive experiences such as internal small-sided games, camps, drop-in play, or matches against Wyoming and regional clubs. Fall runs about August through October and spring about March through May; families may register for one or both seasons. Optional tournaments in Wyoming, Colorado, or nearby states carry fees beyond league registration. The published United Academy fee for 2025/2026 is $540 for both fall and spring together.

LSC Travel covers U11–U14 (birth years 2012–2015) in Colorado Soccer Association Advanced (Centennial) leagues. These teams carry the largest driving distances but still play about half of games at home. Players commit to both fall and spring. Practice often starts toward the end of July through early November; many groups keep some winter activity and join the Cowboy Turf Wars indoor tournament. Spring practice typically begins mid-February and runs through May, with possible summer tournament extensions. The listed 2025/2026 travel fee is $725. Tournament costs are extra.

For high-school-age girls U15–U19 (2007–2011 birth years), LSC Travel offers a fall-only league option so athletes can play high school soccer in the spring, with the same general travel model as U11–U14 and a published fall 2025 fee of $415.

For boys U15–U19 (2007–2011), LSC Travel runs a fall-only program built around regional 7v7 play plus friendlies with clubs such as Scottsbluff and Fort Collins. Part of the group continues to high school soccer in the spring. U14 and U15 players may have a spring continuation option with a Cheyenne-based team. The published fall 2025 fee is $240.

The United Practice Player program serves U8–U14 players (birth years 2011–2018) who want quality training with the technical staff without committing to full travel league games. The Director of Coaching must approve registration. Optional tournament play is possible when a coach decides the player is ready and roster space exists; uniform purchase is optional unless the player joins tournament rosters. Practice players may also participate in intramural training and games. The fee is $250 per season (fall and spring listed separately); high school participants use a one-season fall structure. High school U15–U19 athletes may attend drop-in style practices, often led in part by Laramie High School coaches, from November until the spring high school season. Registered practice players receive club membership eligibility for programs such as ODP and 307, player cards for tournaments and leagues including Cowboy Turf Wars, and defined pathways into league play when appropriate.

Registration, fees, and operations

Competitive spring registration and many program links run through GotSport. Practice-player interest starts with email to the Director of Coaching. Winter intramural for pre-K through second grade may be listed seasonally on the registration hub when open. Published fees are season-specific; tournament, uniform, and processor fees may add cost beyond base registration.

Cowboy Turf Wars and facilities

Cowboy Turf Wars is a major January indoor tournament hosted with University of Wyoming women’s soccer at the UW Indoor Practice Facility on campus. Recent public materials referenced January 2–4, 2026, with schedules released in early December, registration windows from October into mid-November, roster deadlines in mid-December, tiered team entry fees by age, a small GotSport team surcharge, optional coach and short-term player passes for uncredentialed staff or players, and no spectator gate fees. Refund rules and optional registration insurance are spelled out on the tournament pages.

Volunteers run much of the club: head and assistant coaches, team managers, board roles, intramural commissioners, Turf Wars committees, facility work days, and fundraising. Coaches complete background checks, concussion education, SafeSport training, and club-paid certification paths with support from the Director of Coaching. A capital project committee is advancing a new sports complex with outdoor grass fields and future indoor practice space intended as a shared home for LSC and other Laramie sports groups.
