About

Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club has operated youth soccer in Arizona since 1992. The club runs a recreational pathway for younger players alongside competitive club teams from introductory levels through elite national platforms, with tryouts and registration handled in PlayMetrics for many programs.

Recreational soccer

The recreational program serves boys and girls ages 4–12 at AZ Athletic Grounds. Practices are on Mondays or Tuesdays at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m., with games on set Thursdays. The fall block includes eight weeks of practices and games; winter runs eight weeks starting the week of January 4; spring runs six weeks starting the week of March 15. Fall registration is $105 before August 1 and $125 after, with $5 off for each additional sibling in the recreational program and registration closing September 1. Families buy the training and uniform kit through Soccer.com (teal jersey, white jersey, black shorts, black socks), and the same kit carries across fall, winter, and spring. Parent volunteer coaches receive a $50 discount. Recreational questions go to cherylcanzona@azarsenalsc.org. Cancellations before the program start date are subject to a $20 refund processing fee.

Competitive club, ECNL, and league placement

For the 2026–2027 seasonal year the club forms teams for players from U7 through U19 under the school-year age model (August 1–July 31) used across its ECNL, DPL Open, and USYS-sanctioned teams that year. Top boys and girls U13–U19 teams compete in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and ECNL Regional League (ECNL RL); the club also fields girls U13–U19 in DPL Open, teams in Club Premier 2, and sides in the APL, State League, and open leagues. ECNL programming includes six teams each for ECNL Boys, ECNL Girls, and ECNL RL Girls at U13–U18/19, with ECNL Boys in the Mountain Conference and ECNL and ECNL RL Girls in the Southwest Conference. Evaluations for ECNL sides are open year-round; players already carded to another ECNL club need a loan or release before participating. Boys ECNL questions go to caseytate@azarsenalsc.org and girls ECNL and ECNL RL questions to lindseyjohnson@azarsenalsc.org.

Beginning in 2026–2027, age eligibility for ECNL and ECNL RL (US Club Soccer), DPL Open girls (USSSA), and Club Premier 2 and advanced/open league teams (US Youth Soccer) follows an August 1–July 31 school-year window instead of a calendar birth year. General questions about that transition go to questions@azarsenalsc.org.

Tryouts, missed tryouts, and ID sessions

Club tryouts for the 2026–2027 cycle take place at AZ Athletic Grounds, 6321 S Ellsworth Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212. Parking and facility entry for tryouts are free. Participation costs $10, and players receive a dry-fit shirt at check-in on their first day. Families register through PlayMetrics; an existing PlayMetrics account from another club can be reused. Players check in on site the first day to receive a tryout shirt and number. Attending every tryout day is not required but is recommended; if a player must miss a session, they should email the coaches for that age group (contacts appear in the club team directory). Tryout questions go to arsenaltryouts@gmail.com.

Players who missed main tryouts or are new to the area can contact age-group coaches through the team directory, or reach boys coordinator Casey Tate at caseytate@azarsenalsc.org or girls coordinator Lindsey Johnson at lindseyjohnson@azarsenalsc.org to ask about roster space and evaluation. Players must complete the club’s liability form before an evaluation.

The club also runs free-to-attend ECNL and ECNL RL identification sessions ahead of the season; spring 2026 sessions for the 2026–2027 cycle were scheduled on April 6–7 at AZ Athletic Grounds with staggered evening blocks by age. MLS Next, Girls Academy, or ASA carded players may attend without a release; players registered to other ECNL or ECNL RL clubs must wait until April 27 to attend without a release or loan form, under the same spring 2026 ID session policy.

Pre-pro pathways, camps, and contacts

The club fields men’s UPSL, women’s WPSL, and USL Academy programming for current players, alumni, and area players seeking higher adult and pre-professional routes. Pre-pro questions go to Ty Iannone at tyiannone@azarsenalsc.org.

Summer camp options include indoor and outdoor blocks at AZ Athletic Grounds for boys and girls from U8 (2019) through U15 (2011), led by the Director of Operations and staff, with tiered camp fees and checkout discounts for additional camps or siblings. Camp questions go to tyiannone@azarsenalsc.org; refunds incur a $20 processing fee.

Executive and technical leadership is under David Belfort (davidbelfort@ymail.com) and the club president is Tanna Finnvik (tannafinnvik@azarsenalsc.org).
