About

Arizona Soccer Academy (ASA) is a Scottsdale-rooted youth soccer organization founded in 2007 by Coach Hatfield after a professional playing and training career. The mission is to show young players the opportunities that exist in soccer and in life. Coaching serves boys and girls at every level, introducing fundamentals from age two in a structured, safe, and fun setting and aiming for well rounded, healthy players who value hard work, teamwork, and love of the game.

What the club offers

The flagship soccer program runs more than ten months of training and steady development rather than only one or two short seasons each year. Players experience club-style competition and tournament play with age-specific workloads so families can see a clear pathway as children grow. Beyond the core academy, programming extensions include United Soccer Academy (USA), Arizona Soccer University for college recruiting, Girl with a Goal, Boy with a Goal, and Athletic Mapping with consultants for guidance. Personal training is available for players who want extra technical work; families start that process through the club’s online request form. Young children can also join City of Scottsdale soccer classes taught under contract for ages two through six, with registration handled through Scottsdale Active Communities when those sessions are open.

Training approach and environment

Team field sessions stress decision making and tactical game management alongside scrimmages and games. Individual development plan work, team building, and position-specific coaching sit beside broader themes such as speed of play, proactive thinking, strength and conditioning, communication, and leadership. Training builds a competitive roster culture where players sharpen game insight and reading of play while still growing holistically through accountability and a commitment to excellence.

Pathways, evaluations, and how families enter

In youth soccer generally, recreational entry soccer prioritizes fun and even playing time without tryouts. Academy-bridge style programming for roughly ages seven through ten is more competitive than recreational play and usually requires a tryout or skills evaluation, with playing time that follows coaching decisions. Select or club soccer for roughly ages eleven through eighteen demands tryouts, may involve travel around the city or region, and does not guarantee a roster spot from one year to the next. Arizona Soccer Academy staff can help families choose the right track and explain how evaluations apply to the option they want.

Uniforms, gear, and planning ahead

Uniform and spirit wear orders for academy teams run through GotSport. Customization such as screen printing and embroidery typically needs about four to six weeks, and team managers or coaches help distribute finished items. Families should confirm jersey numbers with the team manager or coach before ordering, note the team name, age, gender, and player name at checkout as instructed, and expect possible delays when supplier inventory is tight. Families can pay by credit card or e-check at checkout.
