Programs and competitive levels

Teams sit inside Academy, X-League, and Competition (traditional and elite) structures that cover every age division and skill band the club fields. Younger players can enter through a U6 program that introduces dribbling, passing, shooting, and basic movement in weekly indoor sessions and 4v4 games against other local clubs. The U7–U8 Academy trains twice weekly in fall and spring, once weekly in winter, and competes in the Youth Development League with six fall and six spring fixtures, with optional winter futsal at additional cost.

X-League programming bridges recreation and full competition for roughly U9–U12 players, with separate north (Weber/Davis) and south (Salt Lake) tryout blocks each spring. Older youth compete in U13–U19 competition tryouts and can pursue national-platform girls pathways through GA and GA Aspire or boys MLS NEXT academy placement in the Desert division alongside other top regional clubs. Recreation and academy families use the same school-year age chart (August 1 through July 31) so evaluations match U.S. Soccer grouping rules.

Development philosophy and coaching

Daily work emphasizes bravery, resilience, and excellence—even at U6—so players associate soccer with enjoyment while building ball mastery, coordinated movement, and early decision-making. Academy graduates are expected to connect soccer with fun, handle the ball confidently, understand basic rules, and cooperate with teammates. At tryouts and beyond, the club prioritizes long-term development over short-term results, evaluates effort and character alongside technique, and places athletes where they can contribute and grow even when a specific roster is full.

Coaching staff hold USSF licenses, and many carry advanced credentials at the C level or higher. Academy curriculum is overseen by dedicated director leadership, and age-band directors support U9–U12, U13–U19, X-League, goalkeeping, and GA Aspire programming so families have a clear contact for placement questions.

Tryouts and registration

2026–27 tryouts run on May windows: academy and recreation sessions May 18–19; north X-League May 18–21; south X-League May 18–20; U13–U19 competition May 26–29; and GA, GA Aspire, and MLS NEXT May 26–29 with separate boys and girls schedules. Every player registers online before attending, participates in age-group sessions led by Wasatch coaches, and receives team offers by email with acceptance timelines. Families who miss the main tryout window can still reach director staff to explore late placement when roster space allows.

Seasonal player and coach registration for Fall 2026/Spring 2027 runs through the club’s Stack Sports portal linked from wasatchsoccer.org. New UYSA players need a forward-facing photo and birth certificate; returning families use team assignment codes from coach emails. Coaching volunteers must complete Learning Center trainings and meet Utah Youth Soccer licensing rules before roster approval.

Training locations

Academy age groups train at Wasatch Indoor inside the Kaysville Sportsplex at 1188 Sportsplex Drive, Suite 112, Kaysville, UT 84037, giving U6–U8 players a consistent indoor surface through winter and wet weather. Older teams and tryout blocks use additional northern Utah and Salt Lake Valley fields assigned by age group each cycle—confirm the exact site in the tryout schedule for your player’s bracket before travel day.
