About

Yarmouth Colts Soccer is a volunteer-led travel club for Yarmouth youth. Since 1992 it has grown from a pair of coed U-12 sides into a program of about twenty-one boys and girls teams and more than three hundred players from roughly age eight through fourteen, with a steady presence in league play and the Maine State Championship (Challenge Cup) Tournament. The club’s aim is to give local kids room to learn the game, enjoy competing, and grow with neighbors on the field.

What the club offers

The flagship outdoor program is the Colts Fall Classic League, a fall travel season for players entering third through eighth grade. Newcomers need a birth certificate on file for their first fall registration. Children are eligible when they are eight by July 31 or turn eight before October 15 while entering third grade in the fall. Younger travel groups in grades three through six (U9 through U12) are formed as balanced teams. Seventh- and eighth-grade players (U13 and U14) attend May evaluations; registered families receive detailed timing by email, and a player meeting with Coach Jaeger precedes those sessions. Beyond league play, Colts Camp is scheduled for June 22–25, 2026, and the calendar can include community touches such as the Clam Fest parade, the Maine Children’s Cancer Program walk, and tournament weekends.

Where teams train and play

Home games rotate by age among Yarmouth High School, Yarmouth Elementary School, and William H. Rowe School. Younger small-sided groups use Bennett Field at Rowe and the high school lower grass area; mid-age groups add the high school baseball, softball, and lower fields; older teams step onto the high school turf and Winslow fields across from the elementary campus. Away fixtures follow the Soccer Maine schedule each season.

Registration, fees, and uniforms

Families register through GotSport during the annual April 1–June 15 window. Early-bird tuition is $150 per player from April 1 through April 30, then $200 from May 1 through June 15. U13 and U14 registration closes May 9 so rosters are set before evaluations. After June 15 new signups move to a wait list. Households with more than two siblings in the program pay no fee for the third child and each additional child. Uniforms are ordered during registration with a hard cutoff of June 15; budget for separate kit costs because apparel orders follow the supplier’s no-refund policy. Fall registration fees are not refunded after August 1. Anyone who needs fee help can email the registrar to ask about scholarships.

Coaching, health, and club culture

Coaches and board members are parent volunteers who invest significant time in training, logistics, and governance. Summer camps are led by the Yarmouth High School varsity boys and girls head coaches with support from college and high school players; camp revenue helps cover uniforms, equipment, field use, referees, and tournament entries. The Healthy Colts initiative reinforces nutrition and fueling habits, coach emergency readiness, ACL injury-prevention warm-ups, and concussion awareness for players, parents, and staff. Older U-13 groups have a tradition of summer travel before the U-14 fall season, including friendly tours that have reached Canada and, in past years, Ireland, alongside hosting visiting youth teams.
