Recreational pathway

Recreational programming spans roughly ages 3–19 with a low-pressure focus on participation and fundamentals. Mini-Kickers introduces the youngest players; U6 and U8 tracks combine weekly practice templates with game nights or weekend matches depending on location. Older recreational groups practice several nights a week with Alabama Recreational Soccer League scheduling handled through the state pathway noted on program pages.

Spring seasons publish concrete registration deadlines and start dates (for example, an all-groups registration close and staged practice or game openings in early spring). Optional, no-cost U6+ and U8+ supplemental training runs during the spring so motivated recreational athletes can add licensed-coach sessions at Liberty Park or Central without changing their rec team assignment.

Academy bridge (U8–U11)

Academy acts as the competitive bridge before full travel at U12. Players are evaluated before entry; tryouts run annually in May with additional evaluations later in the year when roster space allows. Families pick a training hub—Liberty Park with Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex (SHAC), or the Dolly Ridge and Central side of town—with U11 teams centralizing work at Liberty Park and SHAC.

Training frequency steps up by age: two 75-minute sessions per week for U8–U10, three 75-minute sessions for U11. Games follow 7v7 formats at U8–U10 and 9v9 at U11, with roster targets around ten and twelve players respectively. League play is Alabama D League (six fixtures per season) supplemented by training games and roughly one to three tournaments depending on age.

Competitive travel (U12–U19)

Competitive teams train about three times per week in 75–90 minute blocks, primarily at Liberty Park and SHAC. Rosters target roughly twelve to fourteen players on the U12 9v9 model and larger groups for 11v11 at U13 and above. League play runs through Alabama State League with extra tournaments and occasional showcases for older athletes exploring college pathways. Tiered Black and White team labels communicate first and second levels within an age group.

Calendar expectations differ by age: U12–U14 athletes generally commit to fall and spring cycles, while U15–U19 teams emphasize a fall season so athletes can pair club soccer with high school spring play unless a director approves an exception.

Tryouts and registration

Fall team formation flows through annual May evaluations. For Fall 2026 the club lists U13–U19 sessions May 11–13, 2026 and U8–U12 sessions May 18–20, 2026 across SHAC, Liberty Park, and Central Fields. Facilities footprint

Liberty Park’s grass complex, SHAC’s turf fields, Central Field near the VHSC offices, and Dolly Ridge Elementary host the bulk of practices and games. SHAC also layers in neighborhood amenities, while Liberty Park remains the historic anchor for many age groups.
