About

Coppermine Soccer Club (CSC) is a Baltimore-based youth club launched in 2014 under Coppermine Fieldhouse LLC. It has grown into one of Maryland’s largest programs, with more than 1,000 families and over 70 teams across boys and girls pathways that span grassroots introductions through elite national leagues.

What the club offers

Programming runs from early childhood soccer into high school and beyond. Lil’ Miners introduces very young players through age-appropriate levels, while the Player Development League and Futures bridge toward more structured training for families who want a Coppermine-style environment before full club commitment. The competitive club side fields small-sided and full-sided teams by age, with tiered placement so players train and compete at a level that matches their current technical and maturity profile. Top boys tracks include MLS NEXT Academy, MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown, NAL, and supporting Pre-MLS NEXT, Blue, and Silver tiers; top girls tracks include Girls Academy and GA Aspire, with Pre-Academy, Blue, and Silver options on smaller-sided teams. Teams also compete in USYS National League, EDP, CMSA, and related regional structures depending on age group and tier.

Regions and training model

Families choose among Central, North, West, and South regions when registering for tryouts. Central covers Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and nearby communities; North focuses on Harford and Cecil Counties and surrounds; West on Carroll and Frederick Counties and surrounds; South again serves Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and surrounding areas. Girls Academy and MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown teams train out of the Central region. Team training is localized to the region once rosters are set, with most teams on the field twice weekly and higher tiers often adding a third session. All 11v11 and 9v9 club teams train with Evolve Sports Performance for athletic development, injury-prevention work, and confidence building. Goalkeepers follow a weekly position-specific curriculum led by the club’s goalkeeper director, and add-on offerings include ball mastery, strikers-and-keepers work, elite player training weeks, and seasonal camps open to players inside and outside the club.

Player development philosophy

Grassroots and club athletes move through named development phases from Discovery (18 months–U6) through Fundamentals (U7–U9), Foundation (U10–U12), Development (U13–U15), Competitive (U16–U19), and Performance (U20–U23) where that pathway applies. Training emphasizes technical, tactical, physical, and social growth so players gain skill while staying motivated. The developmental pathway is designed to be inclusive across levels of play, non-sequential where ability and desire warrant a move up, and supportive of advancement toward each player’s highest realistic level, including college recruitment support through staff roles such as a college recruiting coordinator.

Tryouts, costs, and assistance

Annual club tryouts are free and open to all players. Registration runs through PlayMetrics; after signup, families receive session details, including times and locations, as they are finalized. Players should plan to attend both tryout sessions when possible, arrive about 30 minutes early in plain white shirts without other club logos, and bring appropriate balls, cleats, shin guards, and labeled water. For the 2026-2027 seasonal year, Central, North, and West tryouts are scheduled April 27–May 1, 2026, while South small-sided tryouts run May 4–8, 2026, always subject to updates shared through PlayMetrics and club communications. Tier-specific tuition varies by age group and team level; families receive cost breakdowns as tryouts begin, and pricing may shift as league structures change. Need-based financial assistance may be available for qualifying families.

Mission and values

The mission is to deliver high-quality soccer development for every player and coach, with a vision of becoming a nationally recognized developmental club. Day-to-day culture is built around unity, passion, courage, respect, integrity, and diligence, using soccer to reinforce confidence on and off the field.

Frequently asked questions

What ages, genders, and team levels does Coppermine Soccer Club offer?Tryouts and rosters cover boys and girls from U7 through U19 for each club year, with both school-year (August 1–July 31) and birth-year eligibility models depending on the league. Boys 11v11 tiers include MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown, MLS NEXT Academy, NAL, Pre-MLS NEXT, Blue, and Silver; girls 11v11 tiers include Girls Academy, GA Aspire, Pre-Academy, Blue, and Silver. Younger small-sided groups use Pre-MLS NEXT, Blue, and Silver naming as appropriate. Grassroots options such as Lil’ Miners, the Player Development League, and Futures support players who are not yet ready for full club soccer.

Where does Coppermine train and how are regions divided?Team training is organized by region once tryouts finish and rosters form. Central serves Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and nearby areas; North serves Harford and Cecil Counties and surrounds; West serves Carroll and Frederick Counties and surrounds; South again covers Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and surrounding communities. Girls Academy and MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown teams train in the Central region. Families may try out in more than one region to maximize placement options regardless of home address.

When are tryouts and how does registration work?Tryouts are held each spring for the next club year. For 2026-2027, Central, North, and West sessions run April 27–May 1, 2026, and South small-sided tryouts run May 4–8, 2026, with exact times and fields communicated after families register in PlayMetrics. Players should arrive about 30 minutes early, wear a plain white shirt without other club branding, and bring the correct ball size, cleats, shin guards, and labeled water. Attending both tryout sessions is strongly encouraged when possible.

What do tryouts cost and when do families learn tuition? There is no fee to attend tryouts. Team tuition depends on age group and tier; families receive the numbers that apply to their age band and team level at the start of the tryout cycle, and pricing may change as league structures change. Families who need help paying fees can ask about need-based financial assistance during the tryout process.

What is Coppermine’s mission and developmental approach? The club’s mission is to provide the highest-quality soccer development for every player and coach, with a vision of national leadership in developmental soccer. Training follows phased progressions from early childhood through U19 (and performance-stage work where offered), emphasizing technical, tactical, physical, and social growth. Core values include unity, passion, courage, respect, integrity, and diligence, with supplemental performance training for field players and a dedicated goalkeeper curriculum.
