Programs from first touches to high school

Kicks 4 Kids welcomes ages 3–6 in four- to six-week sessions offered year-round, with one training per week focused on building a comfortable relationship with the ball. The 5U–8U Rush track runs spring and fall: 5U–6U players train once weekly and play 3v3 on weekends, while 7U–8U adds a second session and 4v4 weekend games.

Recreational soccer serves 9U–19U in spring and fall with two weekly practices and weekend games in central Iowa through the Iowa Development League. Fall 2026 rec registration covers birth years from 8/1/2017 through 7/31/2008 at $235 per season, with home matches at Prairie Ridge and area away venues. The 9U–10U Academy is the first competitive step, offering two to three trainings weekly, weekend games, and optional travel tournaments.

Select programming begins at 11U–12U, where players try out and join ability-based teams with three sessions per week, spring and fall seasons plus winter training, and some tournament travel. Central select for 13U–15U follows the same rhythm; 16U–19U select concentrates on fall competition with winter training. Players seeking regional and national competition at 13U–19U can pursue VSA Rush, which trains four times weekly and competes in ECNL and Girls Academy leagues.

Competitive tryouts and placement

For the 2026–27 season, 11U–12U tryouts run June 1–6, 2026 at Prairie Ridge Soccer Complex (1510 NW Ash Drive, Ankeny). Early-bird registration is $30 through April 30, 2026; registration rises to $40 from May 1 and includes a tryout shirt. Team placements for 11U–12U are announced at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Players must attend their own age-group sessions; play-up requests require approval from Technical Director Will Nurre. All 13U–19U tryouts route through VSA Rush with schedules and signup at vsarush.com/tryouts.

Starting August 1, 2026, Iowa Rush adopts the nationwide August 1 age-group cutoff for the 2026–27 soccer year. Families should confirm their player’s bracket before registering or trying out.

Training sites and club footprint

Prairie Ridge is the primary hub for Central Iowa Rush select training and many rec home games, with additional Ankeny park sites used across programs. The club office sits at 209 E. First Street, Suite 160, Ankeny, Iowa 50021. Beyond Ankeny, Iowa Rush operates Iowa Rush North in Waverly, Iowa Rush South in Pella, VSA Rush in the Waukee area, and Apex Rush in Norwalk—giving families statewide access to recreational and competitive options under one Rush umbrella.

Development philosophy and Rush network

Iowa Rush is a 501(c)(3) organization rooted in the former Ankeny Soccer Club and affiliated with Rush Soccer’s global network of more than 110 clubs. Coaching staff emphasize individualized and team-focused training, position-specific work, and pathways that can include Rush Select guest opportunities, Rush Fest, international trips, and college advisory support. Community programs include R.E.A.C.H. uniform donations, Dollars for Scholars senior scholarships, and outreach events such as Kicks 4 Kids and local school partnerships.
