About

Little Rock Rangers Academy (LRRA) is the year-round youth development arm of the Little Rock Rangers Soccer Club, a 501(c)(3) organization working to raise the level of soccer across Central Arkansas. The academy launched in fall 2018 and now serves more than a thousand players on team programs, with hundreds more in seasonal and off-season training tracks. Programming runs from introductory parent-child sessions through high-school-age competitive squads, with a second hub in Searcy added in 2022 through a partnership with Searcy Youth Soccer Association.

Programs and pathways

Families can enter through personal development tracks or team-based pathways. Baby Bucks welcomes ages 1–3 for early movement and ball familiarity. Young Bucks (ages 4–6) teaches fundamentals through fun, skill-oriented Saturday sessions on the War Memorial Stadium front lawn ($195 per season). FUNdamentals (ages 6–10, $295) builds dribbling, passing, and shooting through rotating stations twice weekly at War Memorial, with optional Saturday games in fall and spring.

Team tracks span recreational, developmental, pre-classic, and classic levels for girls and boys. Elite Performance Academy sessions support committed players ages 9 and older outside the main team calendar. Director Ante Jazic, a former professional and international player and coach, leads the academy’s push for year-round training that has helped central Arkansas athletes advance to professional academies and college programs.

Competitive leagues and placement

Top boys teams at U13–U19 compete in the Texas Academy League (TAL), a regional developmental league positioned as a feeder toward MLS NEXT, with three showcase events each year (November, March, and May). At the high school ages, TAL commitment does not allow simultaneous high school soccer—that restriction comes from the league, not the Rangers.

Girls competitive teams are moving into National 1 League competition through the US Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer partnership—a national platform comparable to ECNL Regional League that does not require every age and gender to be fielded. Division winners can advance to ECNL showcases and the National Tournament; the club was evaluating Tennessee-area or northwest Arkansas/Oklahoma regional placement for upcoming seasons.

Additional competitive teams continue in the Arkansas State Soccer Association state league, where players may combine club and high school seasons. Pre-competitive families (roughly 2nd–4th grade) can attend no-cost open-house sessions before fall placement; coaches may recommend another FUNdamentals season when a player needs more preparation.

Tryouts, registration, and seasons

Fall competitive tryouts for 5th grade and older players are organized by birth year and gender with sessions at Burns Park, War Memorial Stadium, Robinson High School, and the Vance academy fields. Pre-competitive open houses for rising 2nd–4th graders are held separately so families can sample programming before committing. Registration and seasonal sign-up run through the club’s online forms; when a player cannot attend an assigned session, families are encouraged to register anyway so staff can coordinate makeup training in an Elite Performance Academy session.

Where families train and how to reach the club

Primary Little Rock training touches Burns Park, War Memorial Stadium (1 Stadium Drive), Robinson High School, and dedicated LRRA fields at Vance. Searcy programming extends the same pathway for families north and east of the capital. Questions about Young Bucks, FUNdamentals, tryouts, or team placement go to info@littlerockrangers.com.

Entry options include Baby Bucks (1–3), Young Bucks (4–6), FUNdamentals (6–10), Elite Performance Academy (9+), and team tracks from recreational through classic and developmental levels in both Little Rock and Searcy.

How do recreational and competitive team tracks differ?Recreational and developmental squads emphasize participation and skill growth within the club’s Central Arkansas community. Pre-classic and classic teams add higher-intensity training and league play, including ASA state league teams that allow high school soccer alongside club seasons. Elite boys at U13–U19 may join Texas Academy League teams feeding toward MLS NEXT, which requires choosing club over high school soccer at those ages per league rules.

What leagues do top competitive Rangers teams play in?Boys U13–U19 elite teams compete in Texas Academy League with three annual showcases. Girls competitive teams are entering National 1 League, with division winners eligible for ECNL showcases and the national tournament. Additional teams remain in Arkansas State Soccer Association competition for families who want state-league play with more scheduling flexibility around school ball.

How do tryouts and pre-competitive open houses work?Fall tryouts for 5th grade and older players are scheduled by birth year and gender at Burns Park, War Memorial, Robinson High, and Vance fields. Younger pre-competitive players attend separate open-house sessions (typically for rising 2nd–4th graders) to try programming at no cost; coaches may steer a child toward FUNdamentals if they need another developmental season before team placement.

What do Young Bucks and FUNdamentals cost and where do they meet?Young Bucks runs Saturday morning sessions for ages 4–6 on the War Memorial Stadium front lawn at 1 Stadium Drive and costs $195 per season. FUNdamentals serves ages 6–10 with Monday and Wednesday evening training plus optional Saturday games in fall and spring for $295, also based at War Memorial.
