Who can play in NYSL recreation?The recreational program is open to children in Nashua and surrounding towns in the Greater Nashua area. Division placement follows birthdate ranges in Recreation materials. Nearby communities such as Hollis, Amherst, and Merrimack are part of the broader service area NYSL serves.

When does the rec season run?NYSL runs recreation twice a year: roughly September through October and April through June, with timing adjusted for school schedules. Exact start dates, field assignments, and weekly schedules ship with each season’s Recreation materials as they are finalized.

How does NYSL teach soccer in recreation?The program uses a game-based approach focused on exploration and whole-player development. Expect play-centered curriculum, trained parent coaches, work on physical and mental skills such as teamwork and conflict resolution, emphasis on fun, and background checks for coaches and volunteers.

Do parents have to coach?Families should expect to be asked to coach; coaches are essential volunteers. No coaching experience is required; NYSL offers training, expert support, and guaranteed play slots for coaches’ children.
