About

Pegasus FC is a long-established competitive youth travel club based in Deerfield, Illinois, drawing boys and girls from Deerfield, the northern suburbs, and the wider Chicagoland area. Founded in 1984 and affiliated with the Deerfield Park District, the club pairs a volunteer-led board with a paid administrator, a director of coaching, and professional trainers who run year-round travel programming plus community pathways for younger players still learning the travel environment.

Programs and age groups

Travel teams serve competitive players from U7 through U18, organized into Select and Premier tracks that scale training load by age. U8 Select (birth years 2018–2019) can register per season with two fall/spring sessions weekly, one winter session, and league games across fall, winter, and spring. U9–U10 Select (2016–2017) and U11–U15 Premier (2011–2015) follow full-year schedules with two fall/spring sessions, one or two winter sessions depending on band, and league play in all three seasons. High school girls (2007–2011) train three times weekly in fall and twice in winter with fall and winter league games; high school boys use a late fall, winter, and spring cycle with three sessions in late fall/spring and two in winter. Goalkeeper training for all ages is bundled into season dues, including weekly fall/spring work and winter sessions with Drive Goalkeeping professionals.

Pretravel bridges grassroots play and travel for players in kindergarten through fourth grade. Fall 2026 offers two sessions at Brickyards Park in Deerfield: a seven-week block for $265 and a six-week block for $225, each with Wednesday afternoon training and Saturday morning in-house games split by grade bands (K–1 vs. 2–4). Families may register for one or both sessions; partial-session pricing is not available. Additional open programming includes Pre-K soccer, summer camp, street soccer, technical development, athletic performance training, and an assistant referee program, while registered travel players also access preseason camp and futsal.

Where the club trains and plays

Outdoor training for travel teams centers on Deerfield and Northbrook, with indoor training facilities in the same area when weather requires it. Home and practice sites include Brickyards Park (375 Elm Street, Deerfield), Clavey Park, Woodland Park, Willow Hill outdoor turf and indoor dome in Northbrook, the Pegasus FC Pitch at 600 Waukegan Road in Northbrook, and the Pegasus Performance Center in Bannockburn. Pretravel sessions default to Brickyards Park; if fields close, sessions move to the Pegasus FC Pitch indoor space.

Development philosophy and Pegasus DNA

The playing model emphasizes possession-based, creative attacking soccer balanced with aggressive defending and quick, intelligent transitions. The mission is to help young players understand and enjoy the game through a well-rounded competitive experience, building confidence through individual development and holistic coaching aligned with the Pegasus Way. On the field, the club targets technical, intelligent players; off the field, it stresses behaviors that support long-term goals from recreational enjoyment through high school, college, or professional pathways.

Pegasus DNA defines daily standards: brave players step forward with confidence and accountability; intelligent players read the game and solve problems under pressure; creative players express ideas and grow through experimentation. Core values stress passing, receiving, movement, urgency in every action, and a shared work ethic in training and matches.

Tryouts and registration

Formal 2026–2027 tryout sessions for boys and girls U7–U18 have concluded, but supplemental tryouts continue to fill open roster spots across age groups. Families complete tryout registration online; after signup, staff schedule a supplemental evaluation session. Questions about placement or programs go to Director of Coaching Grant Ratcliffe. Pretravel and other program registrations run through PlayMetrics when open. The club maintains U.S. Soccer Safe Soccer clearance, SafeSport certification for coaches and board members, and Heads Up concussion training for staff.
