Programs from toddlers through travel

Mighty Kickers introduces toddlers to the game in a playful setting. Soccer Stars serves ages 4–14 with structured sessions aimed at ball mastery and a smooth move into travel soccer. Junior Academy and seasonal class blocks welcome ages 2–14 at indoor Mercy Soccer Center and Sofive Soccer Center as well as outdoor park sites, emphasizing ball control, speed, agility, and character. The All-Girls Academy gives girls ages 4–14 a girls-only training environment focused on foot-skills and confident decision-making without competing against boys in the same session.

Travel soccer is WLSC’s competitive track: open tryouts each spring for birth years 2018 through 2006, roster spots earned annually, year-round training and games, and no guarantee of equal playing time. Strong class players can be invited to travel tryouts when coaches see above-average ability. Individual training and guest-coach specialty camps—including PSG Academy, FC Red Star, and Master Class weeks—round out the calendar alongside coed summer camps for ages 5–18 (birth years 2018–2006) with half-day and full-day options.

Coaching and development approach

WLSC staffs sessions with U.S. Soccer Federation and UEFA licensed coaches, many former professional and All-American collegiate players. The club trains players to think on the ball, express ideas in possession, and learn from mistakes rather than play afraid of them. Travel teams are led by highly licensed coaches with deep playing and training backgrounds; parent volunteers are not used as on-field coaches in WLSC programs. Families describe a supportive, community feel with measurable skill growth from season to season.

Where training happens

Outdoor class and camp blocks rotate among city parks such as Skinner Park (1331 W Adams St), Eckhart Park (1330 W Chicago Ave), Roosevelt Park (62 W Roosevelt Rd), and British School South Loop (161 W 9th St), with schedules varying by season. Indoor junior sessions also run at Mercy Soccer Center (226 S Aberdeen St) and Sofive Soccer Center (2343 S Throop St). Travel tryouts and team training use multiple indoor and outdoor sites across Chicago; families should confirm the exact field and time for their player’s age group when registering.

Tryouts, classes, and camp fees

Six-week junior and academy class seasons are priced at $180, with a $20 sibling discount at participating locations. Travel tryout admission is free for eligible birth years; players should bring a size 4 ball and shin guards. Summer camps offer half-day (9 a.m.–12 p.m.) and full-day (9 a.m.–3 p.m.) blocks with lunch included for full-day campers, early drop-off from 8:30 a.m., and pick-up by 3 p.m. Camp refunds follow WLSC policy: full refund minus a $25 administrative fee up to four weeks before camp start, then credit or week changes within the final four weeks. Travel soccer requires a greater time and financial commitment than classes or camps, and year-round participation is expected once a player joins a travel roster.
