About

Worcester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) is a nonprofit, volunteer-led youth soccer organization serving families in Worcester, Massachusetts. The league promotes skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork in a safe, fun setting and operates under the guidance of US Youth Soccer and Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). Players can join a coed in-house recreational pathway or travel teams that compete in regional leagues, with room for different experience levels across both tracks.

Programs and age groupings

The recreation program covers preschool through grade 4 with coed teams. Travel soccer runs from about the U10 band (grades 3 and 4) through high school and post-graduate bands (grades 11, 12, and PG). Children in grades 3 and 4 may register for either recreation or travel, while travel teams are gender-specific. WYSL also runs a TOPSoccer offering—a volunteer-led, community-based training and team-placement program for young athletes with disabilities—with registration handled through the league office using the mailed forms the program uses.

Seasons, registration, and paperwork

For the spring 2026 cycle, travel team preparation begins January 10, 2026, with online registration closing February 10, 2026; sign-ups after that date are treated as waitlist only. First travel games are scheduled for April 11, 2026. Recreation preparation begins February 10, 2026, with online registration closing February 28, 2026, and first games April 18, 2026. Late registrations may be waitlisted when rosters are full. Families register through the league’s SportsPilot portal (mobile-friendly entry is available from the same registration hub). Paper registration is accepted by mailing completed forms and payment to WYSL, P.O. Box 20763, Worcester, MA 01602. Each new player must submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate as part of enrollment. Travel uniforms are not included in the registration fee; families order kits separately and should plan ahead so gear arrives before the season opener (the league sets a uniform order cutoff ahead of first games). Recreation fees include a jersey, shorts, and socks distributed through coaches.

Fees, discounts, and assistance

Recreation registration is $110 per player and includes the uniform bundle. Travel registration is $120 per player and does not include the uniform. Multi-player households receive sibling savings applied per additional child: $20 off the second registrant, $25 off the third, and $35 off the fourth. A limited number of partial scholarships may be available for families who demonstrate financial need; applications must be fully completed and signed to be considered.

Volunteers, coaching, and how to reach the league

All coaches and adults aged 18 or older who participate must complete Massachusetts Youth Soccer adult registration and satisfy CORI requirements the league directs volunteers through. Board meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday evening each month; families who want to attend can email for logistics. General registration questions go to the registrar, while program-specific topics can be routed to recreation or travel directors. The league’s mailing address is P.O. Box 20763, Worcester, MA 01602. Voicemail is not offered; email is the primary channel for timely responses. Social channels include the league’s Facebook group and Twitter presence for announcements and community updates.
