What the club offers

Recreational soccer for U5–U10 welcomes boys and girls at any starting level. Players train once per week with professional staff coaches using a curriculum built for fun and steady skill growth. A typical season includes a uniform, one practice per week, and weekly games across about ten weeks.

The Youth Academy targets U8–U10 players who are ready for a sharper competitive step after recreation. Training runs twice per week with a progressive curriculum aimed at technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development in an age-appropriate way. Games are on Sundays over an eight- to ten-game season, and the club sets a minimum of roughly half of each match available for playing time.

Select programming serves middle and high school ages from about U11 through U19. Rosters are formed through tryouts, with a training and competition model geared toward serious league play and long-term player growth. Boys select teams operate under the Challenge United name alongside girls Challenge teams at shared tryout and training sites in most areas.

Pre-ECNL covers U9–U12 as a developmental bridge toward the top girls pathway. The ECNL platform serves girls U13–U19 with dedicated director and goalkeeper leadership, team blocks linked through the national ECNL structure, and strong attention to college exposure and elite competition.

Where Tomball-area families play

The Tomball and The Woodlands location highlights Burroughs Park for recreation, academy, and select activity. Check-in details for tryouts and seasonal field assignments are confirmed each cycle so families know which side of the complex to use. Philosophy and coaching approach

The club organizes around the individual player first: rosters group athletes with similar ability so teams can train and compete at the highest level those groups can sustain. Recreation and academy stress fun, respect, and sportsmanship whether the result is a win or a loss. Competitive tracks add discipline, commitment, and teamwork while keeping technical skill and tactical understanding central. Professional coaches lead technical decisions alongside board-led administration, with compliance to affiliated leagues and sanctioning bodies treated as part of protecting players and the sport.

Tryouts and registration

Annual select and Pre-ECNL tryouts are scheduled in multi-day blocks; the 2026–27 Burroughs Park schedule includes May 4–6 for U11–U12 girls and boys, May 7–8 for U9–U10 Pre-ECNL at Burroughs Park (with Lindsay/Lyons Park also used for that window), and May 11–13 for U13–U18 girls and boys, with a third evening held as a weather backup when needed. Families should arrive early, bring a ball and water, and use the posted check-in areas for girls and boys fields. U10 players may be evaluated for U11 select or continue in Youth Academy depending on readiness.

Tournaments and league footprint

Challenge hosts and partners on several showcase and invitational events in the region, including long-running girls showcase weekends and seasonal classics that draw teams from outside the immediate area. ECNL girls teams also connect into national conference structures and identification opportunities tied to the league.
