About

Boston Bolts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth soccer organization founded in 1986 and headquartered in the Boston area. The club runs multiple Massachusetts regions—Boston, Metro North, North Shore, South, Revere, Central MA, and Western MA—so families can train closer to home while still plugging into the same club identity, coaching standards, and competitive pathways.

What the club offers

Programming spans introductory and developmental work through national-track teams. The Future Elite Program and other clinics and technical blocks serve younger players building fundamentals, while older athletes move through elite club teams, MLS NEXT Academy (roughly U13–U19 boys with a six-month season format starting in November, high school eligibility preserved where the league allows), National Academy League girls programming in the Western region, and a USL League Two senior men’s side that connects the club to pre-professional competition. Player interest flows through a short intake form by region and topic (general information, joining a team, camps, tryouts), and rostered participation uses PlayMetrics registration.

Development philosophy

The Bolts way means developing the person first, then the player. Coaching and culture stress holistic growth—technical and tactical progress alongside physical, mental, social, and emotional habits—with autonomy, responsibility, and respect treated as non-negotiable parts of being on a team.

Where families train and play

Training sites are organized separately in each region. The Boston region centers work at the UMass Amherst Charles River campus in Newton and Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury. Metro North uses venues such as Minuteman High in Lexington, Woburn High School, The Edge in Bedford, and Dana Hall School in Wellesley. Western MA trains at Galbraith Field in Easthampton and the Chicopee Boys and Girls Club. Central MA uses Hillside School in Marlborough, Fay School in Southborough, and Forekicks in Marlborough. North Shore trains around Peabody and Marblehead (including Choice Elite Fitness and Tower School). The South region covers Plymouth, Norfolk, Bristol, and Barnstable counties. Revere trains at Revere High School’s turf field. Exact field assignments change by age group and season, so families should confirm locations when they register or speak with regional staff.

Tryouts and registration

For spring 2026 Boston region tryouts, girls U7–U16 gather Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Charles River campus in Newton (100 Carlson Ave, Newton, MA 02459) on a staggered evening schedule by age band. Boys U13–U19 try out Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Roxbury Latin School’s stadium field, with morning and afternoon windows by age. Boys U7–U12 foundation-phase tryouts are Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Charles River campus in Newton, with one-hour blocks per age. Those Boston tryout events carry no registration fee. Other regions run their own tryout and clinic calendars across the year; families outside Boston should submit the player-interest form with that region selected or ask regional staff for the next local tryout or clinic window. Anyone stepping on the field for a Bolts session must complete PlayMetrics player registration through the same join steps as the interest form.

Scholarships and access

Boston Bolts operates a scholarship program supported by donations, with the club recognized as a 501(c)(3). Families seeking fee help should reach out through club channels when they are ready to discuss eligibility and timing.
