About

Brookline Soccer Club (BSC) is the town travel and Premier Club soccer organization for Brookline, Massachusetts, serving boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade with fall and spring seasons for travel pathways. Eligibility is open to children who live in Brookline or attend school in Brookline. Alongside travel and Premier programming, the club runs introductory kindergarten soccer and first- and second-grade house leagues that do not require tryouts.

What the club offers

Kindergarten soccer meets Saturday mornings at the Park School with professional staff and parent helpers, built around small-sided games and basic ball skills. First- and second-grade house leagues use school-based teams, eight Saturday games at the Park School, one practice per week, and a K–2 professional director who plans sessions alongside parent coaches—no tryouts. For third grade, a fall house league can feed spring town travel evaluations; rising fourth through eighth graders join town travel through an annual spring tryout cycle. Premier Club teams partner with NEFC (New England Futbol Club) and compete in NECSL (New England Club Soccer League) with a fully professional staff, year-round training blocks, Sunday league games, winter futsal, and optional tournaments and add-on training. The club also runs goalkeeper training, Friday and summer skills, camps and clinics, Chan Camp, and a 3v3 street soccer tournament.

Development philosophy

BSC centers player development over short-term standings: the mission is for players to learn and love soccer at an age-appropriate pace. Younger grades emphasize joy, movement, equal playing time, and small fields without goalkeepers. Middle grades add rules literacy, responsibility, and deeper technical work while still prioritizing balanced minutes. Older BSC teams continue the training focus before high school, when many athletes move beyond the club’s age band.

Town travel (BAYS)

Town travel teams play in BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer), the large regional league for eastern Massachusetts, with separate boys and girls sides by school grade. Seasons include ten Saturday league games in the fall and ten in the spring, with home matches in Brookline and away trips often within the greater Boston area (sometimes up to about an hour). Accepted players commit to about two club training sessions per week on Brookline fields, with schedules coordinated around field availability and coaching staff. BSC expects soccer to take priority when schedules conflict repeatedly and asks players to attend at least about two-thirds of trainings and games in a season, with reasonable notice for school, religious, and family conflicts.

Premier Club

Premier Club is aimed at families who want more weekly contact and a year-round calendar: roughly three practices a week in fall and spring, two practices a week in winter, Sunday games in fall and spring, winter futsal league play, multiple local tournaments, TraceUp match video, biannual assessments, and optional travel tournaments and extra technical or fitness sessions. Third- and fourth-grade Premier athletes target about 165–175 development hours per year at about $3,000 annually; fifth through eighth grade target about 205–215 hours at about $3,500 annually, with NEFC uniform kit pricing called out separately on club materials. Interest starts with an assessment request; invited players attend ID clinics in April and May, and roster offers are emailed by May 31 for the following club year. Roster space is limited, so not every interested player receives a Premier offer.

Tryouts and registration

Rising fourth through eighth graders who want town travel register for the spring tryout block; tryouts are free, returning players must participate each year, and prior-year placement is not guaranteed. Players wear non-club jerseys to tryouts, evaluators score small-sided play and technical work, and coach evaluations supplement open tryout data. Rising third graders typically enter a fall third-grade house league without a tryout, then may be evaluated for spring travel based on fall coaching assessments—participation in the fall league does not guarantee a spring travel spot. When spring travel rosters are already full, families aiming for the next cycle should plan for the June tryout window and watch for season-specific times and field assignments shared ahead of those sessions. Premier identification uses April–May ID clinics after families submit an assessment request.

Costs and aid

Spring 2026 kindergarten registration was $140 for eight Saturday sessions plus a $15 uniform T-shirt for new players who need one. Spring 2026 first- and second-grade house league registration was $310 plus the same optional $15 shirt for new players. Town travel bills about $475 per fall or spring season through online registration, with travel uniforms purchased separately (about $120 in club guidance, with home and away jerseys, shorts, and socks from the club’s vendor after the registrar assigns a number). Premier Club annual tuition is about $3,000 for third–fourth grade teams and about $3,500 for fifth–eighth grade teams, plus separate NEFC uniform pricing. Registration fees for house programs are non-refundable; financial aid requests go through a confidential process via the registrar.
