Programs and age groups

Development League is designed for players roughly ages 3 through 10, with divisions sized to experience and birth year. Mini and Micro 3v3 leagues ($100 per season) welcome brand-new players with clinic-style practices and introductory games. The 4v4 league ($125) targets children with about two years of prior soccer; 5v5 ($150) adds goalkeepers and field positions; and 7v7 ($175) prepares players for larger-field team soccer. Spring 2026 Development League registration is open for birth years 2016 through 2022, with roster caps and waitlists managed as coaches are confirmed. Girls-only 5v5 and 7v7 teams are offered when enrollment and coaching support allow.

Travel League serves players born in 2015 or earlier (including spring 2026 registration for birth years 2015 through 2007). Teams practice two to three times per week at Smith Field and compete in the Eastern Washington Soccer League (EWSL) or the WPL Eastern Washington COPA League. Fall seasons typically include eight league games plus at least one tournament; spring seasons include six league games plus tournaments and friendlies against local and regional opponents. Travel registration is $350 per season.

Training locations

Walker Field at 3203 4th St, Lewiston, ID 83501 hosts most Development League practices and games for Mini, Micro, 4v4, and 5v5 divisions. Smith Field at 1301–1399 Airway Ave, Lewiston, ID 83501 is home to Travel League practices and home games and to Development League 7v7 (and 9v9) play. Families should avoid blocking designated emergency gate access at either complex. Some Development and Travel teams may schedule occasional games in the Moscow or Pullman area; Travel teams also road-trip to Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, Spokane, and sometimes farther destinations.

Registration and placement

Families register through GotSport, including the open 2026/2027 player registration pool and seasonal Development and Travel sign-ups. Hells Canyon FC does not hold tryouts—the club aims to be inclusive while roster limits still apply by age bracket and team. When a division fills, players move to a waitlist and are activated as coaching capacity grows. Development League players receive a jersey or sponsored shirt with registration; Travel players order numbered uniform kits through the team store at soccer.com on a multi-season cycle.

Philosophy and coaching model

The club trains creative, attacking, possession-oriented soccer on a strong technical base. Coaches encourage players to explore the game without fear of mistakes, especially at younger ages where development rates vary widely. Competitive ambition matters, but results alone do not define success for U8–U13 players. Hells Canyon FC is volunteer-driven at the board and coaching level, with ongoing needs for parent and community coaches—especially to support girls teams and Development League growth.

Fees, scholarships, and support

Development League season fees range from $100 for Mini/Micro through $175 for 7v7. Travel League costs $350 per season. Scholarships may be available at the club and director of coaching’s discretion, and payment plans can be arranged through the registrar when standard options do not fit a family’s situation. The club also runs community events such as Soccer Storm and maintains a field fund because Walker and Smith complexes face long-term access uncertainty in the river valley.
