The soccer year runs June through June.

About
Idaho Legends Soccer Club is a competitive youth soccer organization in the Boise area that pairs high-level league play with lower annual costs than many Treasure Valley clubs. Teams train two to three times per week, compete in fall and spring outdoor seasons through IYSA District III, and emphasize respectful culture, character, and strong coaching. The club forms teams organically and can also authorize capable, complete groups to operate independently under the Legends umbrella.
Programs and age groups
Legends forms its youngest teams at the U9 level, with league play tied to the June-to-June soccer year. Players can sometimes play up for one season and then return to their birth-year group the following June. For the 2026–2027 cycle, U9 eligibility covers players born August 1, 2017 through July 31, 2018, with limited play-up options for slightly younger birth dates in each subsequent year.
The standard player package includes two to three practices per week depending on age, plus eight league games each in fall and spring through IYSA District III. Coaches may also schedule local or traveling tournaments, indoor soccer, or specialty training sessions; those team-specific extras are outlined in the offer letter families receive after tryouts.
Tryouts and team placement
Club-wide tryouts for the 2026–2027 season run June 8 and 9 at Bear Creek Park (2400 S. Stoddard Rd). Boys born 2010–2019 try out 5:00–6:30 p.m.; girls born 2010–2019 try out 6:30–8:00 p.m. Players are encouraged to attend both evenings. Families must complete the tryouts registration form before a player can participate.
Families who receive an offer letter immediately after tryouts have until Wednesday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m. to accept. Uniform sizing follows on June 12 at Bear Creek Park (6:00–7:00 p.m. for boys, 7:00–8:00 p.m. for girls). Players not currently signed with another club may inquire about mid-year tryouts through the club contact form.
Season fees and uniforms
Core club fees for a full soccer year are $265 for fall (due July 31), $265 for spring (due January 31), and $250 for the uniform kit (due June 30). That totals $530 in a non-uniform year and $780 in a uniform year. June of every even-numbered year requires a new uniform kit purchase for all players; in odd-numbered years, only players who need a replacement or want a new kit buy one.
The $250 uniform kit includes two numbered jerseys with the player’s last name, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of socks, two practice shirts, a jacket, sweats, and a personalized bag. Kits are designed to last up to four seasons. High school players who pay the July fall fee and then make a school team may play the Legends spring season without a January invoice.
Team-specific add-ons—indoor leagues, ISL upgrades, tournaments, and similar experiences—are collected by the head coach and spelled out in each team’s June offer letter. Individual teams may organize fundraisers or receive donor support; discounts are applied proportionally on emailed invoices.
Training, games, and goalkeeper development
Practice nights, field locations, and game schedules are set by each head coach and shared in the tryout offer letter. Club-wide expectations include committing to the full June-to-June soccer year and supporting the head coach’s leadership decisions.
Each team’s head coach invites two goalkeepers to specialized goalkeeper training for eight consecutive weeks each season on Fridays, led by an experienced specialist trainer at no extra charge to goalkeeper families.
Coaching model and club culture
Head and assistant coaches are typically soccer-knowledgeable parents or relatives who pass background checks and complete online training. Coaches receive team equipment—pop-up goals, Pugg goals, cones, pinnies, agility poles, balls, a team bench, and net setup supplies—and club-branded coaching attire. Coaches pursuing grassroots license credentials can be reimbursed by the club.
Legends prioritizes coach, player, and parent character over business growth. Parent testimonials highlight positive coaching, competitive development, affordable pricing, and a family atmosphere where players improve technically while learning teamwork and sportsmanship.
