About

Houston Football Club is a nonprofit, player-centered Houston soccer organization founded in 2017. The club develops young men on and off the field through structured team environments tied to USL Academy, UPSL Academy, adult UPSL, and USL League Two so athletes can grow locally while testing themselves against regional and national competition.

What the club offers

Houston FC trains and plays in the Houston area for about ten months each cycle while also taking part in regional and national tournaments, showcases, and other match opportunities. As a founding USL Academy member since the inaugural 2021 season, the club competes each year against strong academy sides from Texas markets. In fall 2024 the club added UPSL Academy competition at the U16, U17, and U18 age groups. The senior men’s program has competed in UPSL since 2018 with deep postseason runs, including advancement to the Central Conference semi-finals, and primarily fields athletes under 23 spanning high school, gap-year, collegiate, and post-collegiate players so younger athletes often face more experienced opponents. The USL League Two team—Houston’s first local club in that league when it joined the former PDL in 2017—fields each summer except the 2020 cycle, with a best finish as division runners-up. That summer side mainly draws collegiate and post-collegiate players while occasionally integrating select high school athletes from the club’s academy track. USL League Two follows a summer window from early May through mid-July with at least twelve regular-season games before conference playoffs that culminate in a national final in early August.

Mission, culture, and development approach

The mission emphasizes holistic growth: soccer ability alongside life skills, academic goals, athletic ambition, and personal resilience. The culture treats athletes as people first, grounded in faith, family, academics, and football, with clear expectations for behavior, attendance, and mutual commitment. On-field ideas are organized around going forward with ambition and creativity, sharing and respecting the ball and the people around you, adapting through transition moments, and pressing through adversity with proactive leadership. Houston FC applies a play-up model in which teams enter older age-group competition so players face faster decisions, learn from mistakes, and build confidence; younger academy athletes regularly train with older groups and can earn meaningful minutes in higher age brackets. Staff stress development across psychosocial, technical, tactical, and physical dimensions. Alumni have continued to NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college programs, and former players have moved on to MLS, USL Championship, and professional leagues abroad.

Where training and matches are based

Home training and many team activities center on the Westbury Christian School Athletic Complex, 10402 Fondren Road, Houston, TX 77096. Field assignments can change by team or competition block, so confirm venues with staff when schedules update.

Registration, small-group training, and contact

Seasonal club registration runs through the club’s SportsEngine registration flow, which collects player and guardian details, waivers, and payment by major card or bank transfer. A separate SportsEngine form handles small-group training signup. For registration questions, email info@houstonfc-tx.com. The club posts updates and registration links on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and its Linktree profile.
