About

Lakewood Steilacoom DuPont Soccer Club (LSDSC) is a long-running Pierce County youth soccer organization rooted in Lakewood, Washington, with roots dating to Lakewood Soccer Club in 1972. Today the club educates and develops local players from first touches through high school ages, emphasizing skill, tactical awareness, mental toughness, fitness, leadership, and love of the game while holding standards for sportsmanship, respect, and fair play.

Programs and age groups

Programming is organized in three recreational tracks. Micro serves U5 and U6 (roughly ages four and five) with coed, non-competitive ball play, parent coaches on the field, a new ball each season, and t-shirt uniforms. Small Sided covers U7 through U12 with separate boys and girls teams from U7 onward, graduated roster sizes, and formats that grow from 4v4 without goalkeepers through 7v7 and 9v9; U11 is the first year the club keeps score and standings. Full Field teams are 11-a-side for U13 through U19, competing in the South Sound United League (SSUL) or North Puget Sound League (NPSL) depending on level, with seasons running from the weekend after Labor Day through Thanksgiving or into early December for older brackets.

Select opportunities also exist for advanced players—for example announced BU12 Select and BU19 Lakewood United tryout teams—alongside the large recreational base. Spring soccer is coach-driven: coaches register intent to field a team and invite fall players, with open spots advertised when coaches are available; fall remains the primary season with open registration for families.

Seasons, registration, and fees

Fall player registration for the 2026 season opens April 1 and runs through August 30 or until age groups fill. Families register online with birth-date verification (new players upload a birth certificate and photo), and returning players who register by June 1, 2026 receive priority toward their prior team when rosters allow—subject to Washington Youth Soccer age-group adjustments. At least 50 percent of fees must be paid before roster placement for insurance reasons, with full payment due by August 1, 2026. Published fall 2026 fees are $65 for Micro, $95 for U7–U8, $100 for U9–U10, $110 for U11–U12, and $125 for U13–U19. Financial assistance is available when families contact the registrar before deadlines. Registered head coaches receive one free child registration per family with age-group discount codes.

Practices, games, and locations

Most teams practice at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood, with coaches setting their own schedules—typically contacting families in mid to late July. Micro teams start after Micro Day in late August. Fall games begin the weekend after Labor Day: Micro through U14 play Saturdays; U15 and above play Sundays. Micro games stay at Fort Steilacoom Park. Small-sided recreational teams in the Pierce County home league play home games there and travel locally to Fircrest, University Place, Tacoma, North Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and Fife. Full-field recreational teams use the same Pierce County footprint and may also travel to East Pierce County and South King County or West Seattle. The club maintains fields at Fort Steilacoom Park (including full-size Field A and B and a U11/U12 Field C), plus listed sites at Lakes High School, Steilacoom High School, and Clover Park High School for community play.

Uniforms, coaches, and affiliations

Micro players receive game jerseys and a seasonal ball; U7 and above receive club jersey, shorts, and socks when teams request the standard kit (some teams may purchase alternate uniforms). Players supply their own cleats and shin guards. Coaches are volunteers, often parents of players on the team, and must complete required training and background checks before assignment. Registration fees cover state insurance, referees, field maintenance, and administration, including assessments paid to Washington Youth Soccer and U.S. Youth Soccer. The club competes within Washington Youth Soccer rules and partners with Pierce County Soccer Association schedules where applicable.
