What ages and levels does Lonestar Soccer Club offer in the Austin area?Programming runs from about ages 4 through 19 across recreational, Jr. Academy (6U–10U), Select (10U–19U in competitive tracks), and National teams. Recreational soccer enrolls children starting at age 3. National teams participate in ECNL-family platforms, and girls ECNL in the Texas Conference begins Fall 2026.

About
Lonestar Soccer Club is a youth soccer organization rooted in Austin, San Antonio, and Central Texas, offering play for ages roughly 4 through 19. The club formed in 2004 from the merger of CC United Eagles and Longhorns, Warriors, and Austin Flyers, with later integration of the Capitals. The mission is to be the best youth soccer club in the nation while developing good people, with core values of sportsmanship, leadership, integrity, discipline, excellence, and respect.
Program pathway
The club spans recreational grassroots soccer, Jr. Academy for players stepping up from rec, Select competitive teams, and National programming. National boys and girls teams compete in platforms that include ECNL, ECNL Regional League (ECNL RL), STXCL RL, and Pre-ECNL. The competitive Select pathway also uses a Western Conference footprint across the Austin–San Antonio region, alongside area and local options centered in Austin. College placement support, camps and programs, showcase events, and adult pro sides under the Lonestar umbrella round out the ecosystem.
Recreational soccer
Lonestar Recreational serves more than 4,000 players from age 3 through 19 across Austin, San Antonio, and Central Texas. Seasons are fall and spring with about seven to nine weekend games and one optional weekly practice, depending on location and schedule. Parent volunteers (at least one per team) run practices and games; no prior coaching experience is required. Club staff handle registration, insurance, team formation, volunteer coordination, uniforms for eligible seasons, league scheduling, and game-day support. Teams form first-come, first-served, may be coed or combine age groups for balance, and aim for at least 50 percent playing time per game. There is no heading or punting for players 12 and under, and games may be played at sites other than a team’s practice location.
Recreational fees and policies (Spring 2026 example)
Spring 2026 registration opened October 27 with calendar milestones through the season (for example, team assignments February 6, first games February 21, final games April 25, with blackout weekends for spring break and Easter). Age-band fees for that cycle are free for U4 clinic, $165 for U5–U7, $225 for U8–U10, and $290 for U11–U19 brackets. Uniforms are included in registration: one Adidas game jersey, black shorts, and black socks each season fall; in spring, only new players receive a new uniform set. Late registration after the late-fee deadline adds $40. Refunds generally carry a $30 administrative withholding except for injury or relocation; refunds are not issued after a uniform has been received. Recreational questions go to recreational@lonestar-sc.com.
Jr. Academy
Jr. Academy targets 6U–10U boys and girls who want a more challenging environment than recreational soccer while preparing for higher Lonestar levels. Seasons run about twelve weeks with two weekly practices plus a weekend game, typically eight to ten games per season and more than 120 teams in the program. Paid professional coaches follow the Lonestar player development model; evaluations at the start and during the season shape team placement. Minimum play time is 50 percent. There is no heading at these ages. All teams enter an end-of-season tournament billed separately (tournament fees are invoiced one to two weeks before the event). Spring 2026 sample fees are $565 for U6–U7 and $715 for U8–U10, plus separate tournament fees of $35 for 5v5 groups and $50 for 7v7/9v9 groups. Uniforms cost about $225 extra on a two-year cycle through soccer.com (Fall 2024 through Spring 2026 cycle noted). Payment-plan options are available at registration. Spring 2026 key beats include evaluations January 26–February 10, first games February 14–15, spring break March 16–20 without training or games, last games April 11–12, and the spring tournament April 18–19. Jr. Academy games use venues such as Williamson County Regional Park, Town and Country Optimist, Justin Lane, The Crossover, Slaughter Creek, and other Austin-area partners. Select and National tracks
Select programming emphasizes year-long competitive soccer—about thirty-six weeks split between fall and spring—with at least two ninety-minute training sessions weekly at a preferred site when roster and level allow, plus league matches and optional extra tournaments or cup play at added cost. National programming aligns with the ECNL-family platforms named above. Girls ECNL membership in the Texas Conference begins Fall 2026, building on the club’s ECNL RL girls pathway.
Tryouts and registration (2026–2027)
Tryouts for the 2026–2027 seasonal year register through PlayMetrics; each family uses an email login and can manage multiple player profiles. During signup, families pick the closest tryout location and preferred practice location, understanding that not every level or age group exists at every site. Training and tryouts are supported across Central Texas cities including Austin, San Antonio, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Kyle, Taylor, Belton, and Killeen.

Each tryout slot includes birth-range requirements and a staff contact for age-specific questions. General tryout registration questions go to tryouts@lonestar-sc.com; age-group questions go to the staff member named for each event.
Player development and medical support
Younger ages emphasize motor skills, ball mastery, small-sided play, and the recreational “new ball” method. Older ages follow a holistic model (technical, tactical, physical, psychological) with a proactive attacking style and organized defensive pressing. Dell Children’s, a division of Ascension Seton, is the exclusive medical provider; Ascension Seton athletic trainers cover club practices, games, clinics, and tournaments.
