About

Plano Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) is a North Texas Soccer–affiliated youth soccer organization based in Plano, Texas, founded February 2, 1976. The association operates large recreational and competitive programs, with about 250 recreational teams and 500 competitive teams playing at city of Plano facilities. PYSA also hosts the long-running Plano Labor Day Invitational Tournament for competitive play.

Programs and levels

Recreational soccer places players on age-appropriate teams coached by parent volunteers; it is team-based league play with practices and weekly games, not a skills-only class. Age groups run from U4 through U19, with small-sided formats for younger ages stepping up to full-sided play for older groups. An optional academy player registration add-on applies only to U7–U10 and costs twenty-five dollars for the academy registration cycle on top of recreational registration.

Competitive programming centers on the Plano Premier Invitational League (PPIL), with playing rules by age band (for example 9v9 on a smaller field for U11–U12 and 11v11 for U13 and older, with roster minimums and maximums set by age). Teams may use up to four club pass players per game under PPIL rules, and those players must be rostered on a North Texas team in a North Texas–sanctioned league. Families can also use United Academy League (UAL) resources for academy-level questions alongside recreational and PPIL soccer.

Facilities, affiliation, and community expectations

Home games and training for PYSA programs use four Plano parks: Russell Creek Park, Carpenter Park, Cheyenne Park, and Jack Carter. The association is affiliated with North Texas Soccer, US Youth Soccer, US Soccer, and FIFA. Parents and coaches are expected to follow the NTSSA Parents’ Code of Conduct and Coaches’ Code of Ethics, and pets are not allowed on fields. Field status for Plano sites is updated by 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, 7:00 a.m. on Saturdays, and 10:00 a.m. on Sundays; weather questions can also go to the after-hours hotline when the office is closed.

Season timing and registration

Spring recreational registration for a given season typically opens in late November and closes in early January, with younger recreational divisions starting in late February and U15–U19 starting in March, running into late May. Spring PPIL registration for new teams has run in a November window with a fixed December close date, with 11U–14U league play starting in February and 15U–U19 in March and the spring campaign ending in May; exact dates shift each year.

Competitive teams entering the fall cycle use placement tournaments and related scheduling announced for that season, with optional participation affecting division placement. Home association paperwork for competitive teams follows North Texas Soccer youth forms. Recreational registration accepts Visa and Mastercard; Plano ISD employees receive a promo code by calling the office. Families email a copy of a child’s birth certificate or passport to donna.myatt@pysa.org for approval before play is finalized.

Fees, scholarships, and how to reach PYSA

Spring recreational registration fees vary by age band from U4 through U17–U19 according to the season’s age-and-fee schedule. Academy player registration for U7–U10 is a separate fee. Guest or non-roster registration for players not currently on a PYSA recreational or competitive team is twenty-five dollars, payable by Visa or Mastercard. PPIL league fees cover both fall and spring in one team fee that differs for 11U–12U, 13U–14U, and 15U–U19 brackets; placement tournament fees apply by age band for teams that enter that process, and teams budget referee costs per league guidance.

PYSA sponsors the annual Don Collins Memorial Scholarship for graduating seniors who live in Plano ISD; applications open each January with a spring deadline announced for that year. The main office is at 3921 Coit Road, Plano, TX 75093, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with general phone 972-422-7972 and extensions for league coordination and the executive director. After normal business hours, families can use the weather and information hotline at 972-665-6804.
