About

Friday Harbor FC is the public name for San Juan Soccer, a Washington nonprofit that has offered youth soccer on San Juan Island since 1999. A volunteer board runs the club as part of Washington Youth Soccer (WSYSA) through Skagit Valley Youth Soccer Association (SKVYSA), combining on-island leagues for younger grades with Skagit-based recreation travel for middle school players.

What the club offers

Fall programming follows school grade bands: kindergarten plays U6, first and second grades play U8, and third and fourth grades play U10 in co-ed on-island leagues from September through October at Friday Harbor Elementary. Registration costs $40 for U6 and $65 for U8 and U10. Fifth through eighth grades join U11, U12, and U14 brackets inside SKVYSA’s fall recreation program; those teams spend about six of eight season weeks traveling to Skagit County venues while hosting two home matches at Linde Field, and each of those older brackets costs $165 per player. SKVYSA aligns teams by school grade rather than birth year so classmates can stay together.

U6 begins the second Saturday of September with Saturday-morning supervised training and scrimmages only—no fixed rosters and no mid-week practices. U8 kicks off after Labor Day with 4v4 plus goalkeepers on the small field and one team practice per week; coaches usually reach families the last week of August. U10 also starts after Labor Day with 5v5 plus goalkeepers on the larger field and two practices weekly. Older SKVYSA teams aim for twice-weekly practices, with coaches connecting in August to begin before Labor Day and first games after the holiday.

Island Rec runs separate International Soccer camps on the island for ages roughly three through fifteen; those camps register through Island Rec, not through Friday Harbor FC.

Registration and fees

Fall registration opens May 1 for the season the club is enrolling (for example, fall 2025). Parents or guardians create or sign in to a Friday Harbor FC account in the Stack Sports member portal, add children to a family profile, and pay the full program fee online with a credit or debit card at checkout. Standard registration runs through July 12; late registrations may be waitlisted without a guaranteed team spot. Families facing financial hardship can email board@fridayharborfc.org; payment and roster questions go to registration@fridayharborfc.org.

Mission and leadership

The mission is to provide every island youth a chance to play, learn, and develop while encouraging lifelong involvement in soccer. Direction comes from volunteer officers and directors—including president and registrar, treasurer, secretary, a director of coaching, and additional board seats—supported by parent coaches.
