About

Lexington United Soccer Club (LUSC) is a private nonprofit youth soccer organization based in Lexington, Massachusetts. The club states it runs more than 25 distinct soccer programs in a typical year, with over 4,000 registrations from more than 1,900 Lexington children from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and of all abilities. LUSC is primarily volunteer-led—more than 200 Lexington parent volunteers serve in leadership and coaching roles—and also employs a professional coaching staff led by a full-time Director of Coaching, Brendan Donahue, who began with LUSC in spring 2006.

Programs families use most

In-town soccer covers kindergarten through 4th grade in fall and spring: K–2 meets once a week on Saturdays at Diamond Field; 3rd–4th graders have one or two weekday practices plus a Saturday game, with balanced teams in a non-competitive setting. Travel soccer runs in fall and spring for 3rd through 12th grade; third graders play travel in spring only (fall travel is for 4th–8th on the travel program page), and high school travel is spring and fall for Lexington 9th–12th graders. Travel teams practice twice a week with Saturday games for grades 3–8; high school travel lists one weekday practice and Sunday games in BAYS Division 3 at 7v7 on 9v9-sized fields. Travel opponents come from Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS), which the club describes as roughly 60 town clubs in eastern Massachusetts, with about half of games at home in Lexington.

LPDA, clinics, and TOPSoccer

The Lexington Player Development Academy (LPDA) is an extra competitive track for skilled players from about 5th through 10th grade, with professional coaching. LPDA teams play outdoors in fall and spring in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL) against private club teams and play indoor futsal in winter in the Massachusetts Futsal League. Weeklong vacation clinics run in April, June, July, and August; there are also weekly clinics in fall, winter, and spring. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) runs in fall and spring for children and young adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The club also notes paid referee opportunities for ages 13 and older and a high school mentor program for older players supporting younger teams.

High school travel is $145 per season (fall 2025: Sep 21–Nov 9; spring 2026: Apr 26–Jun 14). K–2 Soccer Saturdays: kindergarten fall $135 and spring $150; 1st and 2nd grade $150 per season listed on the chart, with sessions at Diamond Field. The 3rd & 4th Grade In-Town League is $165 per season; that page states the league will not run in spring 2026. Credit or debit card payment and a separate late fee and refund policy page apply across these offerings.

Eligibility, registration, and who to call

LUSC follows BAYS residency rules for in-town and travel: generally a child must live or attend school in Lexington, with exceptions described in the BAYS rule book and specific guidance for Hanscom Air Force Base families on the FAQ page. Registration moved to TeamSnap starting in May 2025 (per the FAQ). For team or schedule questions, the contact directory directs families to the division director for their age group; for registration or waivers, the registrar. Uniform rules differ by program (travel uniform via registration; K–2 reversible jersey from Tricon Sports; 3rd–4th in-town includes a team T-shirt)—details are on the uniform information page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between LUSC in-town and travel soccer? For 3rd and 4th grade in-town, opponents are LUSC teams in Lexington or occasionally Arlington. For 3rd/4th–8th travel, games are against non-LUSC teams in BAYS (60+ eastern Massachusetts towns), with about half of games home and half away. Travel teams are grouped by skill; in-town teams are balanced and may have a wider skill range. At U9 and above, both tracks typically meet three times a week: two practices and one game, with similar game format.

When can my child start travel soccer?Travel becomes an option in the spring of third grade at the U9 level. In fall, third graders register for the 3rd & 4th Grade In-Town League rather than BAYS travel; in spring they may register for travel instead.

Does my child need to live in Lexington to play for LUSC?LUSC follows BAYS residency requirements for in-town and travel. Generally a child must live or go to school in Lexington. The BAYS rule book lists limited exceptions, and the FAQ describes how Hanscom Air Force Base residents may register—with travel-specific rules by grade—and notes that Hanscom residents may register with LUSC for other programs such as K–4 in-town and clinics.

How does registration and account access work?Starting in May 2025, LUSC uses TeamSnap for registration. If you are unsure whether you registered, log in to your TeamSnap account or use the lost-password flow with the email you used. Program pages link to TeamSnap forms and note credit or debit card payment plus a late fee and refund policy page.

What uniforms or gear does my child need?Travel players order a uniform during registration unless they already have a valid travel kit from the prior season. In-town 3rd–4th players receive a team T-shirt; they need a reversible pinnie per the uniform page. K–2 in-town players need a reversible mesh jersey from Tricon Sports. Baseball or softball cleats are not allowed for safety. The FAQ also states travel players buy uniforms through the site during registration.
