What ages and program levels does North Boise FC offer?North Boise FC runs recreational teams for players of all experience levels, competitive teams for athletes seeking advanced training and league play, and the Galacticos regional pathway for U13-and-older players ready for three-plus weekly sessions and select regional travel. Recreational registration opens June 15; competitive placement flows through June tryouts and coach evaluation.

About
North Boise FC (North Boise Futbol Club) is a youth soccer organization rooted in Boise’s north and east neighborhoods, offering recreational, competitive, and high-commitment regional pathways for families who want local training without joining a large corporate club. The club grew from Coach Steve Gamboa’s Pee Wee Soccer Stars and School of Soccer programs at Camel’s Back Park and was formally established in 2022 when founder and director Stacey Hopstad helped build a competitive option that keeps the same player-first, community-driven spirit.
Programs and age pathways
Three program tiers let families match commitment to player readiness. The recreational program welcomes players of all experience levels in a fun, inclusive setting with age-appropriate training and games that emphasize fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship under supportive volunteer coaches. Registration for recreational teams opens June 15.
The competitive program serves motivated players who want advanced technical work, tactical understanding, and consistent league and tournament play in a structured environment led by experienced paid coaches. Teams are placed into leagues based on player ability, team goals, and developmental needs rather than a one-size-fits-all track.
Galacticos is the club’s regional pathway for driven players ready to prioritize soccer in a demanding environment. Galacticos teams form only when interest and quality support a roster, train three or more times per week, and may compete in the NewComp regional league at U13 and older with select regional travel and some Sunday matches. Multi-sport athletes are still welcome club-wide, but Galacticos expects soccer to be a primary focus with strong attendance and accountability.
Tryouts, clinics, and joining mid-season
For the 2026–27 competitive season, North Boise FC hosts free pre-tryout open clinics June 1–5 and June 7 so current and prospective players can train with the coaching staff and meet age-group peers before evaluations. Competitive tryouts run Monday–Tuesday, June 8–9 at Ann Morrison Park on fields 3 and 4. Attending tryouts does not guarantee roster placement—coaches evaluate technical ability, game understanding, attitude, teamwork, coachability, and work ethic.
All players planning to try out—returning and new—must complete the tryout registration form in advance for smooth check-in. Families interested in a mid-season move can submit a player interest form so staff can review roster availability; placement is not guaranteed. Players registered with another club fall under Idaho Youth Soccer Association transfer rules, and North Boise FC must notify the current club before extended communication can continue.
Summer camps and off-season training
Competitive-team players can join NBFC summer camps during select weeks from mid-June through early August. Camps run Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m., cost $150 per week, and group players by age and ability for technical work, creativity drills, and small-sided games led by club coaches. Most sessions meet at Ann Morrison Park field 7; camps 3 and 4 use Ivy Wild Park. Optional flex scheduling adds $50 per week for early drop-off or late pickup. Advance registration is required because space is limited.
Coaching philosophy and club values
Training emphasizes technical skill, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and leadership on and off the field. Coaches are expected to prioritize long-term player development over short wins, maintain a positive culture, guide game intelligence instead of over-coaching, and model professional standards in preparation and communication.
North Boise FC’s core values shape how teams operate: teamwork among staff, coaches, and players; high standards of sportsmanship backed by a signed code of conduct; affordable rates positioned below most Treasure Valley competitors; balance that encourages multi-sport participation; accessible soccer through fundraising and scholarship support; geographic focus on north and east Boise; and responsive service for families, coaches, and players.
