About

Sting Soccer Club is North Idaho's long-standing competitive youth soccer organization, rooted in Coeur d'Alene since 1985 when parent volunteers launched Coeur d'Alene Sting as a nonprofit. Today the club serves more than 500 families with pathways from a free introductory program for the youngest players through select, premier, and academy teams that compete in regional and national leagues. In June 2024 the organization returned to the Sting Soccer Club name after years as Timbers-Thorns North FC, while keeping the same mission: develop technical and tactical skills alongside sportsmanship, dedication, honesty, commitment, respect, confidence, and a strong work ethic.

Programs and age pathways

Little Sting welcomes ages 4 through 7 at no cost, using fun-focused skills clinics and Saturday game days to introduce coordination, teamwork, and love for the game before families consider competitive tracks. Sting Select (ages 7–10) bridges recreational play with introductory competitive training focused on skill development and team play. Sting Premier serves boys and girls ages 11–19 who want advanced training and league play without a full year-round academy commitment.

Sting Academy is the highest competitive tier for players 10 through 19, coached by USSF-licensed professional staff (A, B, and C licenses). Girls academy 11v11 teams at U13–U19 compete in the GA Aspire League; Sting is Idaho's only full-time GA Aspire member club. Boys academy teams play in the Elite Academy (EA) League with a pathway toward MLS NEXT; Sting is Idaho's only full-time EA member club. Placement follows ability, with movement between levels when performance and roster needs change.

Leagues and competition

Competitive rosters represent the club in Washington Inland Select League (WISL), Washington Inland Premier League (WIPL), Idaho State League (ISL), Elite Academy for boys, and GA Aspire for girls—giving local, regional, and national platforms for development and college exposure.

Tryouts, registration, and 2026/27 fees

Tryouts for the 2026/27 season run May 18–21, 2026 at Canfield and Real Life Fields. Current and prospective players register through GotSport when tryout registration opens; families should arrive 15–30 minutes early with water, a ball, shin guards, and cleats. Identification sessions for U8–U9 run Monday, May 18; U10–U12 boys and girls span Monday–Tuesday, May 18–19; U13–U15 split between Canfield and Real Life Fields May 19–21; U16–U19 finish Thursday, May 21.

Annual club fees for August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027 cover coach stipends, association and league fees, referees, field rentals, player registration with IYSA and US Club Soccer, insurance, and outdoor field maintenance. Club fee tiers are $600 for U8; $995 for U9–U10; $1,760 academy or $1,430 premier for U11–U12; $1,950 academy or $1,580 premier for U13–U14; and $1,670 academy or $1,350 premier for U15–U18. Premier placement depends on player numbers and team formation—not every age group fields a premier team each season. Families may pay by card or spread costs across seven equal installments. Team managers set separate team fees for tournaments and travel; uniform kits are required in even years and purchased through the club shop.
